you can see her through the window though she night look a little vague and unclear i'm pretty sure that's just the way she likes it over in the corner she's sitting in the shadows watching worlds collide and no one even seems to notice she's there she puts her book on the table lights a candle then she opens it up then starts to write in her little black book her little black book everything she sees everything she hears is in her little black book what do you think she is writing do you think her heart is broken into i almost had a chance to ask her all about it but she slipped away back into the shadows i'm trying not to be obsessive but all i do is watch her write in that book the tears a falling just like rain outside her window but she wipes them away then starts to write write it all down in her little black book her little black book her little black book everything she sees everything she hears is in her little black book in her little black book her little black book her little black book everything she sees all her hopes a dreams are in her little black book her little black book her little black book her little black book

this is a song for you but don't let it turn you head 'cause could never be the man you think you see this is a song of life but don't let it bring you down 'cause love has many faces it goes through many changes we see a man in different shades of gray a never ending shadow with no magic of it's own yet we slip beneath this figure as if everything was planned and i wonder do we really understand this a song of love but don't let it touch your heart 'cause i am not the man who do you think i am memories at midnight colors change hue that all enticing presence of someone you once knew don't you turn to your pillow you see everything is clear love is in the music that you hear

Winter Lady 03:13
traveling lady stay awhile until the night is over i'm just a station on your way i know i'm not you lover well i lived with a child of snow when i was a solider and i fought every man for her until the nights grow colder she used to wear her hair like you except when she was sleeping and then she'd weave it on a loom of smoke and gold and breathing and why are you so quiet now standing there in the doorway you chose your journey long before you came upon this highway traveling lady stay awhile until the night is over i'm just a station on your way i know i'm not you lover

crimson flames tied though my ears rolled high with mighty traps pounced with fire on flaming roads using ideas as my maps "we'll meet on edges soon said i" proud 'neath heated brow oh but i was so much older then i'm younger than that now half -wracked prejudice leaped forth "rip down all hate,"i screamed lies that life is black and whit spoke from my skull i dreamed romantic facts of musketeers foundationed deep somehow oh but i was so much older then i'm younger than that now in a soldier's stance i aimed my hand at the mongrel dogs who teach fearing not i'd become my enemy in the moment that i preach my pathway led by confusion boats mutiny from stern to bow oh but i was so much older then i'm younger than that now yes my guard stood hard when abstract threats too noble to neglect deceived me into thinking i had something to protect good and bad i define these terms quite clear no doubt somehow oh but i was so much older then i'm younger than that now

Learn To Fly 04:19
she wants to learn how to fly sour like an eagle trough the sky she wants spread her wings and know the joys that only flight can bring but there's something in her eyes you know there's traces that always show someone from so long ago something that just won't let go she wants to learn how to fly slip the surly bounds to which she's tied she want's to race with the wind and feel the breath of god against her skin but sometimes when she she smiles you see that someone who used to be somebody broke her heart somebody just like you somebody flew away and they never came back she wants to learn how to fly like a night bird with stars in her eyes she wants to make her wings out of gossamer and yesterday's dreams but something in her eyes that shine betray's her real designs somebody broke her heart somebody just like you somebody flew away somebody broke her heart somebody just like you somebody flew away and they never came back

The Fall 05:50
you must have seen them once or twice or read about their tale of woe me i remember two friends in need two heart's who lost everything but i suppose i should start again and start from the very beginning and tell you what it was like before all the pain and suffering it was like your first christmas day full of lights and childhood dreams or try remembering your first true love and all the magic that it could bring crowds of people came from miles around and everyone was happy singing wrap this up all in a ball you'd only have a glimmering true love in fairy tales always has a happy ending but in a world of spit and greed well there's no room for anything i was there when they first found out their world was going to end in the space of just one heartbeat i couldn't quite comprehend she could barely hold back her tears hardly keep her hands from shaking he was quiet wouldn't say a thing but i could tell he was smoldering now i see some of you nod your heads i see some of you wipe your cheeks look around the room you'll see we have a bond in their misery and people ask me if there's still hope i try to smile but i can't tell them all i see for our wounded pair is wreckage and despair true love in fairy tales always has a happy ending but in a world of spit and greed well there's no room for anything i have a table that i got from them i keep it littered with strange debris i know it's there but i don't want to see broken hearts broken dreams and i'm afraid to tell you more 'cause i'm ashamed of how i left them drowning in this terrible see i just stood by and watch them bleed this is the fall of innocent grace a time of constant sorrow so light a candle or say a prayer or drink until you just don't care but if you think it can't get much worse you haven't heard a word i'm saying 'cause it won't stop until it has it all until it's taken everything true love in fairy tales always has a happy ending but in a world of spit and greed well there's no room for anything

i often walk the streets of yesterday i look for you in every face trying to replace this emptiness i feel with love's embrace but there's no trace i go down alleyways of history i chase a golden thread of time looking for someone in a sea of faces she's not there so i'm nowhere i cried a thousand tears over someone like you i'll cry a thousand more but what good will it do if i don't have you if i don't have you i know these dreams will get the best of me but there's just nowhere else to turn and hard as i try to break these chains that bind they won't let go so there's no hope i cried a thousand tears over someone like you i'll cry a thousand more but what good will it do if i don't have you if i don't have you i cried a thousand tears over someone like you i'll cry a thousand more but what good will it do if i don't have you if i don't have you your not there so i'm nowhere

Suzanne 04:26
suzanne takes you down to a place near the river you can hear the boats go by you can spend the night beside her and you know that she's half crazy but that's way you want to be there and she feeds you tea and oranges that come all the way from china and just when you mean to tell her that you have no love to give she get's you on her wave length and she let's the river answer that you've always been her lover and you want to travel with her and you want to travel blind and you know that she will trust you for you've touched her perfect body with your mind now jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water and he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower and when he knew for certain that only drowning men could see him he said all men will be sailors then until the sea shall free them but he himself was broken long before the sky would open forsaken almost human he sank beneath your wisdom like a stone and you want to travel with him and you want to travel blind and you think maybe you'll trust him for he's touched your perfect body with his mind now suzanne takes your hand and she leads you to the river she is wearing rags and feathers from salvation army counters and the sun pours down like honey on our lady of the harbor and she shows you where to look among the garbage and the flowers there are hero in the seaweed there are children in the morning they are leaning out for love and they will lean that way forever while suzanne holds the mirror and you want to travel with her and you want to travel blind and you know you can trust her for she's touched your perfect body with her mind
